This is my World of Gourds. It was created in 2004 from gourds I grew. The water areas are carved out leaving the natural gourd surface as the continents and islands. The only part that is not gourd is the dowel with wooden pins that connects the parts. The globe is made from a basketball gourd and is turned by the dipper gourd attached to the top of the dowel. The coloring is natural, no dyes or stains were used. It was finished with a wax coating. Photographer: Walker Montgomery
